We were thrilled to witness the vibrant engagement of both university students and the local community during our CineEuroConnect project. The response was nothing short of enthusiastic, as attendees regarded it as a captivating glimpse into the past—a thrilling exploration of cinema history.

Notably, the press conference, graced by the presence of Karlovasi’s mayor, drew keen interest from journalists who posed insightful questions. The exhibition itself, a treasure trove of cinematic artifacts, sparked lively discussions about cinema’s profound impact on society. Visitors were not only captivated by the exhibits but also actively shared their personal perspectives on cinema, enriching the discourse with authentic stories.

As part of our presentation, we introduced also Vasilis Vafeas’s art essay, “The Cosmic Dissecting Room Show,” crafted in 1993. This surrealist poetic film skillfully juxtaposes two seemingly disparate worlds—the avant-garde realm of pioneering artist Gregory Semitecolo and the everyday lives of the inhabitants of a frontier island. Through the lens of artistic creation, these worlds, though distinct, harmoniously coexist. We believe this film seamlessly aligns with our conceptual framework.

“CineEuroConnect in Samos: Exhibition Preview and Film Screening” has not only provided a captivating preview of our exhibition but has also opened doors to a fascinating cinematic journey, allowing audiences to travel back in time and explore the rich tapestry of film history.
